Mind and Destiny

“I make no pretension to patriotism. So long as my voice can be heard ... I will hold up America to the lightning scorn of moral indignation. In doing this, I shall feel myself discharging the duty of a true patriot; for he is a lover of his country who rebukes and does not excuse its sins. It is righteousness that exalteth a nation while sin is a reproach to any people.”- Frederick Douglass

Mussolini Is Dead

The following letter in the Oneonta Daily Star was submitted by Bobby Walker of Cooperstown.
“Mussolini is back!  And he’s been back for a while.  Corrupt politicians have been taking over this country for decades.  They’ve been lying, cheating and deleting their way to power for years.  They take money from countries that suppress women and execute LGBT people.
“The takeover has been slow and total but we are at a crossroads in history this election season.  The people have caught on, the “mobs” are already formed.  Mussolini is scared because we are poised for a citizen take-back of our nation.  The silent majority is no longer silent and come November we will have a choice.  Will we continue to put Mussolini back into power or will we return this nation to one of the people and by the people, never to perish from the face of the Earth?”
What is Bobby Walker writing about?  In 1945, I clearly remember a picture of the dead bodies of Benito Mussolini and his mistress hanging upside down on the front page of a newspaper.
Not unlike Italian dictator Mussolini, our wealthy elite have historically coveted the assets of weaker nations and have used our military to gain an economic stranglehold over the natural resources of weaker nations.
Mussolini claimed: “And above all, Fascism, the more it considers and observes the future and the development of humanity quite apart from political considerations of the moment, believes neither in the possibility nor the utility of perpetual peace... War alone brings up to its highest tension all human energy and puts the stamp of nobility upon the people who have the courage to meet it.”
Sinclair Lewis wrote: “When Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in the flag and carrying the cross.”
