Mind and Destiny

“I make no pretension to patriotism. So long as my voice can be heard ... I will hold up America to the lightning scorn of moral indignation. In doing this, I shall feel myself discharging the duty of a true patriot; for he is a lover of his country who rebukes and does not excuse its sins. It is righteousness that exalteth a nation while sin is a reproach to any people.”- Frederick Douglass

Not Fully Appreciated

Many uninformed Americans don’t fully appreciate what the Obama administration has accomplished.

As Commander-in- Chief, he ordered the killing of US.-born Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki in Yemen by a drone strike on 9/30/11.  Al-Awlaki helped recruit Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab, the Nigerian charged with trying to blow up a transatlantic flight on December 25, 2009.  He had also exchanged e-mails with accused Fort Hood shooter Maj. Nidal Hassan.  Osama bin Laden and Anwar al Awlaki have been killed, and the fascist government of Tripoli has fallen.

On 4/6/12, senior operative of al Qaeda, Fahd al Quso was killed for his role in the USS Cole bombing was killed by an airstrike in Yemen.  Al Quso was indicted by a federal grand jury in New York in 2003 on 50 counts of terrorism offenses for his role in bombing of the USS Cole in Aden, Yemen.  The bombing killed 17 U.S. sailors.

At the end of Bush administration the wealth of most American families had declined at a rate nearly seven times faster than when the stock market crashed in 1929.  Home foreclosures numbered in the millions.  Deficits were soaring because hardworking Americans, who had been meeting their responsibilities, and paying taxes were suddenly unemployed.

Since, President Obama took office the unemployment rate has been cut in half.  Our auto industry has had its best year ever.  Manufacturing has created nearly 900,000 new jobs in the past six years.  More than 14 million new jobs have been create in the past 2 years, which is the strongest two years of job growth since the '90s.  Our economy started growing six months after Obama took office and by the end of last month, we had enjoyed 74 consecutive month of private sector job growth.
