Mind and Destiny

“I make no pretension to patriotism. So long as my voice can be heard ... I will hold up America to the lightning scorn of moral indignation. In doing this, I shall feel myself discharging the duty of a true patriot; for he is a lover of his country who rebukes and does not excuse its sins. It is righteousness that exalteth a nation while sin is a reproach to any people.”- Frederick Douglass

Experience and Compassion

The misinformed and Republican propagandist continue to deny Hillary Clinton’s achievements as First Lady, in Congress and at the State Department.  As First Lady she gave an inspiring speech in China regarding the rights of women.

According to the late Sen. Ted Kennedy, who supported Obama for president, the State Children's Health Insurance Program wouldn’t be in existence if the Congress didn’t have Hillary pushing for it from the White House.

In 2008, Senator Clinton voted for the Bush administrations $700 billion Troubled Assets Relief Program (TARP).  It was a wise vote, because it helped to rescue our economy from free fall.  She argued on the floor of the Senate: "For two years, I and others have called for action as wave after wave of defaults and foreclosures crashed against communities and the broader economy."  She has also called for a tax on trading and maneuvering that puts people's retirement savings at risk.

In fact, the financial industry has supplied roughly 3.9 percent of Hillary's funding, or 7 percent if you count money from related PACs.  She has made speeches to big banks, however by no means did the bulk of her income come from those speeches.  In general, Hillary has demonstrated a willingness to work with Wall Street.  Do we really want a president who hates the engine house of our economy?

Republicans have known for a long time that Hillary is an exceptionally strong candidate, and that scares them.  They’ve developed talking points such as the e-mail scandal, and Benghazi.  Neither the e-mail problem nor Benghazi are of concern to those Democratic voters, who recognize that they’re merely Republican talking points.

Sexist comments attack Hillary’s voice, laugh, hairstyle, and pantsuits.  They criticized her for "shouting" and not smiling enough.  Those types of criticisms aren’t being made about the male candidates.

All politicians shade the truth at times, including Hillary.  Politifact has been measuring the truth-quality of statements by everyone running for president on both sides of the aisle.  Politifact regards Hillary as the most truthful of the pack, even more so than Bernie.

According to an analysis done by The New York Times, Hillary and Bernie Sanders voted the same way 93 percent of the time in the two years they served in the Senate together.

Hillary Clinton is smart, experienced, compassionate, and is much more prepared to be president than any other candidate.
